Gola Island, Gola Island, Co. Donegal, Ireland

About The Event

Gola is a sparsely populated island with pristine sandy beaches and amazing rock formations, that is accessible by a small ferry. We will be staying in a small, remote cottage with a fully fitted kitchen, bathroom with shower and toilet, 2 twin bedrooms, one double bedroom and space to pitch tents. There are no cars or shops on Gola so it will be a chance to fully immerse yourself in nature and enjoy the wildlife and deserted beaches.

On Saturday or Sunday (depending on the weather conditions), we’ll return to the mainland by ferry and embark on a 3-hour kayaking adventure to Owey Island, located south of Gola. We will be guided by Gareth from Selkie Sailing as we paddle across the bay from Cruit Island to explore Owey’s incredible sea caves. With 27 caves to discover and abundant marine life, you’ll have the option to swim inside these natural wonders. Don’t worry if you’re new to kayaking—all equipment, including wetsuits, will be provided. Our stable sit-on-top kayaks will ensure a safe and thrilling experience. A group of us did this kayaking trip in 2022 and we were awestruck by the stunning scenery and the caves. It really is an incredible experience.
